About Jay
Jay the Magical is a middle-grade book series often beloved by teens and adults too.
In the first book, Jay the Magical Middle Schooler, Jay Soren is a nonbinary sixth grader who activates their powers three years before “normal” magical people. Now, Jay has to learn to control their magic while going through everyday experiences like handling bullies, making a new friend, and potentially having a stepparent.
Jay 1.5 is a novella that explores Jay’s summer break before 8th grade and introduces a new group of friends. It’s tentatively scheduled for release in May 2026.
Jay 2.0 is a full novel that spans Jay’s 8th grade year, including their joining Magegard’s teskis team. It is tentatively scheduled for release in Fall 2026.
About Sam
Sam started writing stories as soon as they learned to write. They enjoy reading, especially middle grade novels, and walking in parks. Their favorite foods include noodle kugel, curry, and burritos (but not at the same time). If they had a favorite character (and they don’t!) it would probably be Chakey.
About Austin
Austin is an illustrator and cartoonist based in Boston, Massachusetts. His drawings emphasize character, communication, and clean lines. He’s drawn to depicting mischief and miscellany! When Sam asked him to draw Jay, he couldn’t think of a better project to be attached to!
